GEAR RENTAL SITE
People love outdoor adventure travel. However, outdoor gear takes up a lot of space, can be difficult to move, and is often expensive. Also, besides avid adventurers, most people travel a few times a year or less. How can outdoor apparel/gear companies help tackle this issue?
The design solution is to create a section of Patagonia’s current website dedicated to connecting customers with temporary apparel and gear for their own adventures.

To learn how to provide a gear rental service that satisfies users' needs and also helps the company make profits, we conducted competitor and comparative analysis as shown below.
We analyzed two gear rental companies and two popular clothing rental companies to understand how the rental services works in the market. We also compared Patagonia with its direct competitors.
We decided to forgo surveys as we already have access to enough suitable candidates to conduct user interviews. At the end of our process, we have conducted 15 interviews which we think are appropriate to guide our design in regards to user needs and pain points.

User Journey
Based on what we learned from user interview, we created two personas. Katie is a now-and-then adventurer, while Forest is an avid adventurer. We chose Katie as our primary persona.
